CTET 2026: CBSE reopens application portal for 1.61 lakh candidates with incomplete registrations

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to reopen the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET 2026) application portal as a one-time measure for 1.61 lakh candidates who failed to complete their registration process. The CTET February 2026 registration will be reopened on December 27 from 11 am on the official website, ctet.nic.in.

The CBSE Board has recorded its highest-ever 25.30 lakh registrations for the CTET February 2026 exam, compared to 20 lakh in the July exam, and 16 lakh in December 2024. According to the latest data shared by the board, 1,61,127 registrations remained incomplete after the CTET application process closed on December 18 at 11.59 pm.

During this a total of 25,30,581 candidates had applied successfully, out of which 3,53,218 and 4,14,981 candidates had successfully applied on the second last and the last date of application respectively.

Following multiple grievances from candidates who were unable to complete their applications, the board said it has taken a “sympathetic view” of the matter and will allow these applicants to finalise their forms. The one-time facility will be made available from 11 am on December 27 to 11.59 pm on December 30.

“These candidates are advised to verify their particulars and do necessary correction during the process of final submission of application as no further opportunity will be given to them for correction of particulars. This is also informed that no fresh registration will be allowed during this process,” the board said.

As per the schedule, CTET 2026 exam will be conducted on February 8 in two shifts – shift one from 9:30 am to 12 noon and shift 2 from 2.30 pm to 5 pm.
