CTET 2026 September 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published the CBSE Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET 2026) notification. Candidates can apply for the CTET 2026 September exam on the official website, ctet.nic.in or on cbse.gov.in, by June 10. CBSE will conduct the CTET 2026 exam on September 6 in two shifts.

As per the CTET 2026 schedule, paper 2 will be held in the morning shift from 9:30 am to 12 and paper 1 will be held in the evening shift from 2:30 pm to 5 pm.

According to the official CTET information brochure, the exam city will be allotted to applicants on a random basis. Any request for a change of allotted examination city, for whatsoever reason, will not be accepted.

“Similarly, in case the examination is conducted on 05th September 2026 in any city, the examination date 05 September or 06 September will be allotted to candidates on a random basis. The request for change of allotted examination date, for whatsoever reason, shall not be accepted,” the official CTET brochure reads.

CTET Exam Medium 2026: New Languages added

Notably, CTET has included Maithili and other languages as an option from this year. The CTET paper will be held in 27 different languages from the September 2026 session onwards.

CBSE CTET 2026 will be conducted in English, Khasi, Punjabi, Dogri, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Kashmiri, Assamese, Manipuri, Tamil, Konkani, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Maithili, Garo, Mizo, Tibetan, Santhali, Gujarati, Nepali, Urdu, Sindhi, Kannada, Odia, and Bodo

As per the exam qualifying criteria, candidates must score atleast 60% marks to pass the CTET 2026 exam.

CBSE CTET 2026: How to apply? Fees required

The steps to apply for CTET 2026 are given below.

  • Visit the official website at ctet.nic.in.
  • Complete the CTET registration process.
  • Fill out the application form by entering your education details and personal details.
  • Upload scanned documents such as photo and signature.
  • Pay CTET application fee and finally click on the submit button.
  • Download and take two or three prints for future reference.

CTET 2026 will be conducted in two papers – Paper 1 for candidates seeking teaching positions in Classes 1 to 5, and Paper 2 for those applying to teach Classes 6 to 8. Notably, the validity period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be for a lifetime for all categories.
