NEW DELHI: To ease access to testing centres for students from Jammu and Kashmir writing the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2023), the National Testing Agency is planning to create temporary centres in Srinagar. The agency through an official notice said, “Being sensitive to the needs of candidates and to ease the access of the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating a temporary Centre in Srinagar. This will enable NTA to bring back most of the candidates to the State. However, the number of candidates being extremely large, and some candidates may still have to take the CUET (UG) outside the State.
As reported by Careers360 earlier, several students from the Union Territory have been allotted CUET exam centres as far as 600 km away from their residence. The CUET city intimation slip 2023 was issued to exam candidates in two sets – on May 14 for the exams on May 21 to 24 and the second set on May 17 for exams on May 25-28. There were similar complaints from Jharkhand as well where many candidates were assigned centres in Odisha. As many as 1,78,630 students have signed up for CUET 2023 in Jharkhand; of them, 1,30,590 will be able to write the exam in the state. But in this case the over 48,000 students assigned centres outside Jharkhand get no relief.

For May 25, 26, 27, and 28, a total of 44, 425 candidates will be appearing in 15 Centres created in Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA notice said. The CUET admit card 2023 for the first round of exams, May 21-24, were issued today at cuet.samarth-.ac.in.
CUET exam centre in Jharkhand
For students facing similar issues in Jharkhand, the NTA has not planned to create additional centres and asked students to make appropriate travel arrangements to appear for the exam. The centres, according to NTA cannot be increased due to the rise in students writing the exam.
“Though all measures have been taken for allotting the candidates to their preferred cities, there are some candidates who have been allotted to a city in a neighbouring state. However, we have announced the city information slip in advance to give them time for making travel arrangements,” the notice read.
In Jharkhand, a total of 1,78,630 unique candidates have been registered to appear for the national-level entrance test. The state will conduct the CUET 2023 on May 21, 22, 23, and 24 for a total of 52,793 candidates appearing in 19 centres, a phenomenal increase. Similarly, on May 25, 26, 27, and 28, a total of 77,797 candidates will be appearing in 14 Centres in Jharkhand.
Manipur CUET 2023 exam centre
As for Manipur where violent clashes broke out between two ethnic groups, the NTA has made alternative arrangements. The NTA, as per the official notice, has planned to keep all examinations in Manipur from May 29 2023 onwards. “NTA has carefully reviewed the law-and-order situation in consultation with the State Administration and contacted these candidates by telephone for asking their preferred city for the said examination. Some candidates who were not in Manipur or wanted to take the examination in another State/City are being allocated to other cities i.e., Delhi, Guwahati, etc. The option for a change of Centre for candidates from Manipur is still available,” the notice said.
The candidates who have received CUET admit card for May 21 to 24 May or the city intimation slip for to be held between May 25 to 28 May 2023 will have to contact NTA on 011 - 40759000 / 011 -69227700 or e-mail at email@example.com in case they want to change their City from Delhi, Guwahati, etc. to Imphal.
