NEW DELHI: Soon after the National Testing Agency issued the second batch of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) advance city intimation slips this morning, Seerat Majaz from Kupwara district of Kashmir discovered her CUET exam centre was in Chandigarh, 622.7 km away. “While I filled the examination preference city as Srinagar and Baramulla, I have now received Chandigarh as the examination centre,” Majaz told Careers360 . She has written to the NTA requesting change before the CUET admit cards are issued but is yet to hear from them.

Majaz isn’t alone. Tafazul Ahmad Bhat from Kashmir’s Budgam district has been assigned a CUET exam centre 429 km away in Jalandhar, Punjab. “For students like me who don’t have the resources to travel far, how will I give the exam?” asked Ahmad who had sought centres in Srinagar and Baramulla.
The CUET advance city intimation slip 2023 were issued by the NTA in two sets – on May 14 for the exams on May 21 to 24 and the second set on May 17 for exams on May 25-28 . The CUET UG city intimation slip 2023 link is at cuet.samarth.ac.in. The city slip is not the same as the CUET admit card which will be issued three days before the exams and at the same official website. The city intimation slip merely tells the candidates where the CUET exam centre will be. The CUET UG exam is scheduled for May 21, 22, 23 and 24 and further on June 1, 2, 5 and 6. NTA has also kept a few buffer dates of June 7 and 8.
The issuing of the CUET city intimation slips have alarmed many candidates in Kashmir and jharkhand who have been assigned CUET exam centres in other states and are complaining about it on social media. Last year’s CUET exam had also suffered from the same problems .
The CUET admit cards are expected three days before the exam; candidates hope the exam cities are changed before the CUET 2023 admit cards are issued.
CUET 2023 Exam City: ‘Difficult to travel’
Majaz secured 90% in this year’s class 12 board exam and has applied for BSc in Biotechnology at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi, BSc in Botany at Cluster University of Srinagar and integrated BSc-Msc in Central University of Kashmir. Even for admission to universities in her own state, she had to go to another one to write the exam.
“Many students across Kashmir have received their CUET 2023 exam centres in a different state to which it is difficult for many to travel. We demand that the examination must be held in Kashmir so that we can give exams properly without much travel,” said Bhat.
Many students have taken to social media platforms to appeal to the NTA.
One student’s CUET city intimate slip says her exam centre is in Patiala, 628 km away from her, in Punjab.

There are several Jharkhand students in a similar predicament. Harsh Kashyap from Bokaro, Jharkhand has Bhubaneswar, Odisha as her CUET 2023 examination city.
@DG_NT I have got an exam city which I had not opted for during registration, that too which is over 300km away from Deoghar,Jharkhand. Please make full use of the buffer days instead of giving centre to such distant places in such short notice. Please change my exam centre.

Similarly students from Deoghar, Dhanbad, Bokaro in Jharkhand have their centre 427 km away in Rourkela, Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

As a resident of Baramulla in Kashmir, I recently saw exam centers for CUET are located in Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib both situated in Punjab. This revelation has left me and many other Kashmiri students in a state of distress and uncertainty. @mamidala90
