NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday heard a petition filed by an aspirant who missed CUET UG 2022 exam due to last-minute change in exam centre. Justice Sanjeev Narula today pulled up the National Testing Agency (NTA) saying that “a child shall not be deprived from appearing in the test paper due to your fault and you can’t take excuse of technical glitch”.
The Delhi HC also issued notice to all the respondents and listed the matter for hearing on August 16, 2022.
The petitioner was unable to take the examination for geography paper scheduled on July 15, 2022, owing to a change in test centre. Even though the candidate informed the NTA about the sudden change in exam centre, the said request is still pending, the court observed.
Counsel appearing on behalf of the NTA informed the court that if the problem is found genuine then the petitioner will be provided an opportunity to reappear in the exam .
This order came in a petition filed by student Ahiliya Majithia through advocates Ashok Agarwal and Kumar Utkarsh raising her grievance that CUET 2022 test centre was suddenly changed without any prior information.
Several students had taken to social media alleging last-minute exam centre change. The debut Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was marred by several issues such as delayed admit card, technical glitches, far-off exam centres.
The NTA in a recent notice announced that postponed CUET 2022 exam will be conducted between August 24 and 28 for those candidates who could not attend the CUET UG 2022 due to administrative and technical reasons. Fresh CUET UG 2022 admit cards will be issued for these candidates, the University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar had informed.
