NEW DELHI: The Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) application process will conclude on March 26. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has answered the frequently-asked questions (FAQs) to give clarity to students as it introduced a major exam rejig.
The NTA recently added two more courses in CUET UG taking the total domain-specific subject to 29. Students will be allowed to choose only 6 subjects out of 63, which comprises 33 languages, 29 domain-specific, and one general test. The testing agency has advised students to select at least one language.
The duration of the UG entrance exam will be 45 minutes, however, for subjects accountancy, economics, physics, computer science, informatics practices, chemistry, mathematics/ applied mathematics and general test, the duration of the test will be 60 minutes.
The exam will be held in hybrid mode to encourage more students to appear in the national-level entrance exam. For subjects that will be held in pen and paper mode, there may be three shifts in a day for about two hours duration. Here’s the section-wise topics.
General test- This section will test candidates’ general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic, algebra geometry, mensuration, stat, logical and analytical reasoning.
Language - This section will be tested through reading comprehension based on different types of passages–factual, literary and narrative, literary aptitude and vocabulary.
Domain-specific subjects - Questions mainly from Class 12 syllabus will be asked.

How will performing Arts be tested?
The performing arts question paper will have two parts - part I is compulsory for all students and part 2 will have four sections, of which they have to select only one section. Students are required to attempt all 20 questions in part 1 and each section in part 2 will have 25 questions, of which they have to answer 20.
How will teaching aptitude be tested?
The Teaching Aptitude test will have 50 questions in total, of which candidates will have to attempt 40 questions.
How will computer science/ informatics practices be tested?
Students applying for computer science should note that the test will have two parts. Section A will have 15 questions covering both computer science and information practices. Section B1 will have 35 questions from computer science and Section B2 will have questions from informatics practices. Students will have to answer 25 questions in both the sub-sections.
How will mathematics/ applied mathematics be tested?
Mathematics/ applied mathematics test will also have two parts. Part 1 is compulsory and will have 15 questions. Section B1 will have 35 questions from mathematics and Section B2 will have 35 questions from applied mathematics. Candidates will have to attempt 25 questions of 35.
