NTA to hold CUET 2026 re-exam for 3,765 candidates after technical glitch at TCS exam centre

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a special re-examination for 3,765 candidates who left their exam centres during the CUET UG 2026 shift 1 exam on May 30 after a technical problem disrupted the test before it could resume.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the NTA said that some exam centres experienced technical problems, which delayed the start of the CUET UG 2026 shift 1 examination and caused inconvenience and stress for candidates.

“Earlier today, some centres faced a technical glitch that delayed the start of CUET UG shift 1. We understand that this caused stress and inconvenience to candidates, and we apologise for the anxiety caused,” the agency said.

The NTA said that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) iON, the technology partner for the exam, has been asked to investigate the issue, identify the cause of the technical problem, and submit a report as soon as possible.

CUET 2026 re-exam date

According to the NTA, about 95% of candidates were able to complete their examination after the test resumed at the affected exam centres.

“About 95% of candidates were able to complete their exam after it resumed,” the NTA said.

However, the NTA said that 3,765 candidates left their examination centres before the test restarted, even though they were present at the centres and had completed their biometric registration.

“We understand that 3,765 candidates who were present at the exam centres and had completed biometric registration left before the examination restarted,” the statement said.

To make sure these candidates are not affected by the disruption, the NTA said it will conduct a special re-examination as a one-time arrangement.

“For these candidates, the NTA will conduct a special CUET UG re-examination as a one-time measure. The new exam date and other details will be announced separately,” the agency said.
