NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) decided to introduce a common counselling system for admission to undergraduate courses in central universities accepting the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) score. Candidates will soon have a single portal to apply to multiple institutions instead of filling out separate forms for each university likely by next year. The main goal is to streamline the admission process and make it easier for students to apply.
As per Times of India, UGC chairperson, M Jagadesh Kumar, stated, “To make things even more helpful to students, we will look at the possibility of having common counselling for all central university undergraduate admissions, Such a system will provide a single window for admissions, and students can give their choices on a single portal instead of applying to different CUs separately. Non-filling of seats will be avoided."

The UGC chairperson stated that the common counselling system will have several benefits. However, due to the presence of numerous central universities and their diverse programmes, the implementation of the process will require some time.
“Once that is launched, the admission process in the central universities will be much more streamlined, and it will be easier for students to apply," added the UGG chairman.
