Former chief controller of DRDO A Sivanthanu Pillai was conferred with Doctor of Science award and a total of 1,091 students also received their degrees at the convocation.

NEW DELHI: CV Raman Global University (CGU) Odisha recently concluded its 5th convocation. During the convocation ceremony, the institute awarded degrees to 1,091 students including 24 gold medallists.
Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, A Sivathanu Pillai, former chief controller, R&D, DRDO, founder CEO and MD, BrahMos Aerospace, was present on this occasion. Sivathanu Pillai was conferred with the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) award for his contribution to the society in the fields of aerospace, missile and defence technology.
Addressing the students at the CGU convocation, Pillai talked about the recent developments in AI technology such as NLP, machine learning, computer mission, generative AI, and molecular biology.
Emphasizing the need to understand climate change, he encouraged students to “imagine the impossible which can propel them to soar great heights”.
Speaking at the CGU Odisha 5th convocation, Sanjib Kumar Rout, founder and president of the university encouraged and listed the success of the students in different skill competitions, both at national and international levels.

He also announced that Bajaj Auto has signed an agreement with the university for setting up a high-end training centre in processing and manufacturing.
Moreover, the event was also attended by Sarat Chandra Bhadra, Shailja Rout, Sunil Kumar Sarangi, Guda Sridevi, all members of the board at CGU. Banshidhar Majhi, vice-chancellor, CGU, delivered the annual report of the university and advised the graduates to be the catalysts for change in the society.
