Delhi Riots: HC asks CBSE to give long term plan for northeast by 6 pm

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday instructed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to decide on the board exam schedule for the next 10-15 days in violence-hit northeast Delhi.

It has asked the board to make the decision public by 6 pm today.

The High Court told CBSE that the students should be informed on the schedule beforehand rather than giving daily updates, reported the Press Trust of India.

“The situation there [North East Delhi] is only getting worse,” Justice Rajiv Shakdher said. “There have been more deaths. You should give time for the situation to settle down. You cannot decide only for tomorrow or day after. Take a call for the next 10-15 days. The children need to know. They cannot wait each day for the next day.”

The court was replying to the board’s statement that it will take a call on tomorrow’s exam schedule by today evening.

On Tuesday, CBSE had postponed board exams in 86 centres in North Delhi that were scheduled to happen on February 26.
