Delhi schools reopen for students of Classes 9, 11 today

NEW DELHI: After being shut for over ten months due to COVID-19, schools in Delhi reopen for Classes 9 to 11 today, February 5, as per the announcement made by the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Along with the reopening of schools, degree diploma institutions, including polytechnics and ITIs, will also resume classes today in the national capital.

The minister said that the conditions would be similar to the ones announced when schools reopened for students of Classes 10 and 12 on January 18, adding that students will attend classes only with the consent of parents, physical attendance will not be compulsory and all schools and colleges will be expected to follow the COVID-19 guidelines.

"Schools for classes 9 and 11 students, as well as colleges and degree diploma institutions will reopen in Delhi from February 5, following COVID protocols. The students will attend classes in a staggered manner and with the permission of parents," Sisodia said.

The reopening of schools was aimed at helping students prepare better for their practical and internal assessments, the minister added as per PTI report.

Keeping the school reopening in mind, Directorate of Education (DOE) issued examination instructions for Classes 9 and 11. For Class 11 practicals, projects and internal assessments would be conducted at the school level from March 1.

The Delhi government had earlier resumed classes for the students of Class 10 and 12 on January 18, 2021, in order to prepare the students for the upcoming board examinations scheduled for May 2021.
