Delhi University exempts 2025-26 UG batch from 28-credit passing, promotion rule

As a one-time measure, students of the 2025-26 batch who have completed one year of study are exempted from the requirement of obtaining 28 credits out of 44 credits.

Download NowDelhi University has modified the passing and promotion criteria for undergraduate students of 2025-26 batch, exempting them from the requirement of securing 28 credits out of 44 credits after completing one year of study.

The central university , in a notification, stated that promotion criteria under the NEP UGCF- 2022, and in accordance to the academic council resolution, and the executive council resolution, will be applicable as a one-time measure only to students of 2025-26 academic year.
As a one-time measure, students of the 2025-26 batch who have completed one year of study are exempted from the requirement of obtaining 28 credits out of 44 credits.

DU credit exemption only for 2025-26 batch
The exemption criteria will be applicable only to the students of 2025-26 batch and shall not be applicable to subsequent batches. The university also said that other provisions contained in the earlier credit updates will remain unchanged.
The Controller of Examinations issued the notification with the approval of the competent authority. The university's latest notification did not specify the circumstances or reasons for introducing the one-time relaxation for the 2025-26 batch.
Recently, the Delhi University revised its credits for 4th-year students under the UGCF 2022 from the academic session 2026-27.
The four credits will be added to the dissertation, academic project, and entrepreneurship track, increasing the total to 10 credits from the existing six.
