Download NowNEW DELHI: Delhi University received as many as 60904 applications for admission against the first cut-off list as the university closed the admission under the first cut-off list today.

Around 14205 applications have been approved by the principals of various colleges, and 27006 students have secured their seats by paying the fees.
Out of the total applications, 46,054 were from the CBSE board and the rest from all other state boards across the country. By the end of the first round of merit-based admissions, 31172 candidates from CBSE board, 2365 from Kerala Board of Higher Secondary Education, 1540 from Board of School Education Haryana, 1429 from Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations and 1301 from Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan in addition to other State Boards have secured their admissions, as per the data shared by the university.

The University of Delhi has refuted and condemned the news which is being circulated regarding favouring candidates from a few boards. “Being a Central University, the University of Delhi equally and uniformly values the academic credentials of all the candidates irrespective of their States and School Boards. This year too, equal opportunity was maintained by accepting applications based on merit only, informed a press release. The Students' Federation of India had earlier demanded that CBSE and its evaluation should not be the deciding factor for admissions in Delhi university and had accused the university of being discriminatory towards state boards.

“Being a prestigious Central University with a long legacy of quality teaching and research, candidates across the country aspire to study in our colleges / departments / centres. It is our utmost responsibility to maintain justice and equity to all meritorious candidates coming not only from Indian States but also from abroad,” maintained the university in its release.

The last date to apply under the first cut- off list was October 7. The university will verify the documents by October 8 and finalise the admissions against the first cut-off list. Candidates have to make the payment by October 8, 5 pm. Students who did not make it in the first cut off list will now have to wait for the second cut off list which is scheduled to be released on October 9.
