NEW DELHI: All schools, public and private, in north east district of Delhi will be closed on February 25, 2020.

After a day of violence and two deaths in the area, Delhi's education minister Manish Sisodia announced this on social media.

This is exam season in schools. All internal exams have been postponed and for the Class 12 board examinations, Sisodia said he had spoken to the Minster for Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal, and that exams scheduled for February 25 are getting postponed as well. Delhi Government schools are all affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education which, in turn, is under MHRD. However the CBSE said in a statement that exams in four vocational subjects are scheduled for February 25. It said that these exams were to be held only in "18 centers in Western part of Delhi" and that "there are no centers in the north east part of Delhi for exams scheduled tomorrow".

The Class 12 exams scheduled for tomorrow include four vocational subjects including textile design, entrepreneurship and office procedures and practices.

On Sunday, a former MLA and now BJP-member threatened violence against Delhiites protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 and even taunted the police. Subsequently, there has been spurts of violence in the area and on Monday, one policeman and a protester were killed.
