Dharmendra Pradhan launches ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign; unveils Eco Club web portal for schools

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0" in New Delhi. As part of the launch, he launched special modules developed for schools, a microsite for the campaign, and a dedicated web portal for Eco Clubs under Mission LiFE.

The newly launched web portal is designed to capture activities of Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE in over 14.7 lakh schools. It provides each school with a dashboard to upload reports and track progress. The portal is multilingual and aligned with the seven themes of Mission LiFE.

The integrated microsite for Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0 allows students to upload a photo of themselves planting a sapling with their mother, and generates an e-certificate upon submission.

“The Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0 microsite has been integrated into the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal. After planting a sapling with their mother, students can capture the moment with a selfie and upload it on the microsite by filling out a simple form. Upon successful submission, an e-certificate featuring the selfie will be generated. This microsite provides ground-level statistics to monitor the progress of the campaign effectively and assess its impact,” the official press release said.

Modules for all school levels

The three modules launched for the preparatory, middle, and secondary stages are structured to link the nurturing role of mothers with environmental care. These modules include details on the composition of Eco Clubs, suggested activities, QR codes for identifying flora, and tasks such as hands-on activities and research assignments.

Speaking at the event, Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised the importance of the special modules, the web portal and the microsite in promoting nature conservation and creating awareness among students about environmental protection, encouraging their active involvement in tackling environmental issues.

Modules to boost student awareness

He noted the efforts of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, under NEP 2020, to integrate environmental education. He stated that "Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE" in schools will inform students about environmental and climate change concerns.

The minister further said that the new modules will help build environmental awareness among schoolchildren and encouraged all to plant a tree in their mother’s name and upload a selfie on the portal at ecoclubs.education.gov.in.

At the event, Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, Delhi education minister Ashish Sood, School Education and Literacy Secretary Sanjay Kumar, and NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani were also present.
