DU Economics Honors cut-off trends

NEW DELHI: Last year, the highest cut-off at which Delhi University closed admissions to BA (Honors) Economics was 100% at Lady Shri Ram college for Women. Economics honors is one of the top courses offered by DU and the cut-offs have been only increasing for the past three-four years hinting at the cut-throat competition.

Lady Shri Ram college’s cut off was followed by Shri Ram College of Commerce, Hindu College, Miranda House, etc.

On the other hand, the minimum cut-off at which students could get admission to BA Economics last year was 94% at Aurobindo college.

This year, BA (Hons) Economics cut-offs are expected to be even higher than the previous years as more CBSE students have secured above 95% in board exams 2021.

Students need to score equal or above these cut-offs in order to get admission. While, DU releases upto six or seven cut-off lists for each course, usually the seats get filled for Economics Honors programme in the first few lists.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 12 Board results 2021 on July 30. This year, the pass percentage was 99.37 percent and over 70,000 students managed to score 95 percent.

DU will likely release its first cut-off on October 1, as per PTI report.
