NEW DELHI: Delhi University released its first cut off for 2021 admission for its various undergraduate courses today. Keeping the trend, most top colleges cut off for coveted courses were above 97 % mark.

For BA(Hons) economics, one of the top courses offered by Delhi University, the cut off in top colleges ranged between 97- to 100% in a few of the top colleges. The minimum percentage this year for admission in BA (Hons) economics amongst the top colleges was in Jesus and Mary College at 98.50% and the maximum in SRCC where it touched 100% mark.

With JMC, as an exception, the cut off for the subject crossed 99% mark in the rest of the 9 colleges listed below.

SRCC set the highest cut off for 2021 as it touched cent percent for economics with a rise of 1 percent than last year’s cut off. Surprising Lady Shriram College cut off in economics dipped by 0.50 and was set at 99.50 percent for admission in economics. The cut off for economics in 2020 was set at 100 percent mark. This year the cut off increased in all the 9 colleges except LSR where it surprisingly dipped by .50%.

To get admission in BA (hons)economics in top 10 colleges, the candidates need to score equal or above these cut-offs. Every year, Delhi University releases upto six or seven cut-off lists for the undergraduate courses. Economics Honors being one of the coveted courses, the seats get full after the first few lists.

The candidates who qualify for the first cut off list can apply between October 4 10:00 am to October 6, 11:59pm. The college will approve the admission against the first cut off list by October 7, 5 pm. Candidates have to make the payment by October 8, 5 pm. Students who did not make it in the first cut off will now have to wait for the second cut off list which is scheduled to be released on October 9.

There are nearly 70,000 seats in 65 colleges under DU. Owing to Covid-19 situation, the DU admission process 2021 will be completely online like last year. In case of any vacant seats after the third cut off, DU will announce a special cut off list. Delhi University releases the cut-off on the basis of “best of four” criteria which considers the average marks in the top four subjects scored by a candidate in Class 12.
