NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi has constituted a committee for “smooth implementation” of the recently introduced National Education Policy, or NEP.
As many as 30 members, including a chairperson, will be part of the newly formed NEP implementation committee (NIC). Vivek Suneja, a teacher from Faculty of Management Studies has been appointed as the chairman.
Principals of eminent colleges DU like Jatinder Bir Singh of Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, S. P Agarwal of Ramanujan College, Suman Sharma of Lady Shri Ram College, John Varghese of St. Stephen’s College are members of the NIC.
The committee will suggest measures and changes required for the implementation of NEP in the university.
As per the NEP 2020, the committee will also recommend changes to the existing syllabus and timeline for adoption of these changes.
In addition, the NIC will suggest appropriate mechanisms for incorporating “implied activities” as laid down in the NEP.
Changes in the system of examination and student intake in regular as well as open learning and non-collegiate level will be suggested by this committee.
The central government approved the NEP on July 29, five years after the first committee to draft NEP was constituted.
