Delhi University revises publication rules for academic purposes; sets 120-point threshold for journals

There are no changes in the guidelines for consideration of publications for academic purposes under the faculty of science, interdisciplinary, applied, mathematical sciences, technology and medical sciences.

Download NowThe Delhi University has revised the guidelines for consideration of publications for academic purposes. The university has introduced a minimum of 120 points out of 150 for percent peer-reviewed journals and introduced a fresh assessment process for journals seeking inclusion in the university's approved list.

These changes in the points for the publications are under the faculties of arts, social sciences, applied social science, and humanities, commerce and business studies, education, law, management studies, and music departments.
The updated guidelines were approved by the executive council in its meetings, conducted on April 29 and July 30, 2026, as per the official notification.

Changes in DU's assessment committee members
Under the faculties of Science, interdisciplinary and applied sciences , and mathematical sciences, technology, and medical sciences, there is no change in the guidelines.
The publications under these departments must continue to appear in journals indexed in the web of science (science citation index expanded, arts and humanities citation index, or social sciences citation index), or scopus, or any other equivalent indexing database approved by the university.
At the faculty or department level, the assessment committee will include the dean of the faculty, head of the department, three senior-most professors, two senior-most associate professors, and two senior-most assistant professors.
The members from the three faculty categories will serve on a rotation basis for two years, the revised guidelines read.
At the university level, the recommendations will be considered by a committee comprising the vice-chancellor's nominee, director of IQAC, two subject experts nominated by the vice-chancellor and a joint, deputy or assistant registrar of IQAC.
