DU Faculty of Law launches Project Saksham 4.0 to promote legal literacy; plans nationwide workshops

The University of Delhi’s Faculty of Law has launched the fourth edition of Project Saksham 4.0, a project to disseminate legal literacy and awareness across the country. The objective of the new edition is to build a powerful network spanning 11 states, over 33 cities, and more than 2,500 trained volunteers.

To ensure that no individual is deprived of justice due to economic or social issues, nation-wide camps, workshops, public awareness programmes, and community-based legal assistance activities will be conducted, the Delhi University said in an official statement.

“The previous edition, Saksham 3.0, achieved remarkable success with approximately 1,500 volunteers collaborating across 6 states and 8 cities, involving law students from over 24 universities,” the university added.

The Saksham 4.0 project is also launched to multiply its scope and impact manifold.

Centre for Odia studies at DU

“The organization will soon release the list of participating states and cities and extend an open invitation to all educational, social, and legal institutions to join this nationwide mission. This initiative represents a crucial step forward in strengthening access to justice,” it said.

Recently, the Delhi University Executive Council (DUEC) approved an approval to establish a centre for Odia studies and renaming the arts faculty convention hall, along with several key academic and infrastructural decisions.

Yogesh Singh, vice chancellor of DU said that the university has several ongoing projects worth approximately Rs 2,000 crore.

The centre aims to expand academic engagement in the Odia language, literature, culture, civilisation, and traditions. It will offer a two-year MA programme and support doctoral and postdoctoral research as per the NEP 2020 , with plans to introduce certificate, diploma, and undergraduate elective courses as well.
