DUSU Polls 2024: This is the first time after 2017 that NSUI bagged two of the central posts and witnessed victory in the president’s position.

NEW DELHI: The counting of votes for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election 2024-25 concluded today, November 25. NSUI's Rounak Khatri has won the DUSU president's post, defeating ABVP's Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes. As per the DUSU Election result 2024, Bhanu Pratap Singh of ABVP won the Vice President post by securing 24,166 votes, while NSUI's Yash Nandal got 15,404 votes.
This is the first time after 2017 that NSUI bagged two of the central posts and witnessed victory in the president’s position. Apart from this, Mitravinda Karanwal of ABVP won the post of DUSU Secretary whereas NSUI's Lokesh Choudhary has bagged the post of Joint Secretary.
"Ronak Khatri was the winner for the post of President by getting 20207 votes out of 50,689 votes while Rishabh Chaudhary came second with 18868 votes", the official press release read.
Celebrations erupted as the results were announced, with the Congress's student wing members gathering in large numbers, raising slogans, and cheering for their leaders. The win marked a revival of the party's presence in the influential student body after a near-decade-long of domination by the ABVP.
While the NSUI claimed victory in two major positions, the ABVP managed to secure the vice president role and retain the secretary position, ensuring its presence in the union. ABVP's vice president candidate, Bhanu Pratap Singh, received 24,166 votes, while NSUI's Yash Nandal garnered 15,404 votes. Meanwhile, Mitravinda Karanwal of ABVP won the secretary post with 16,703 votes, defeating NSUI's Namrata Jeph Meena.
Earlier scheduled for November 21, the university postponed the DUSU election result 2024 to November 25 due to pending cleaning-up of election-related defacement.
Satyapal Singh, the Chief Election Officer of DUSU Election 2024-25, said that this time 8 candidates were in the race for the post of President, 5 for the post of Vice President, 4 for the post of Secretary and 4 for the post of Joint Secretary.
Giving detailed information, he informed out of total 50,689 votes received for the post of President, Aniket Mandke got 2,028 votes, Badee U Zaman got 844 votes, Pinky got 854 votes, Rishabh Chaudhari got 18,868 votes, Ronak Khatri got 20,207 votes, Saavy Gupta got 2,695 votes, Sheetal got 407 votes and Shivam Maurya got 880 votes. He said that 3.906 students voted for NOTA.
Giving detailed information of total 50918 votes received for the post of Vice-President, he said that Ayush Mondal got 3650 votes, Banashree Das got 2339 votes, Bhanu Pratap Singh got 24166 votes, Rovin Singh got 948 votes, Yash Nandal got 15404 votes and NOTA got 4411 votes.
DU student union polls recorded 29.8% voter turnout with a total of 43,451 votes. Most of the votes were cast by the students of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.
