DUSU Polls 2024: Provisional candidate list after scrutiny out; withdraw nomination till September 20

NEW DELHI: Delhi University has issued the provisional list of candidates for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections 2024, following the scrutiny of nomination forms. These elections are scheduled for September 27, 2024, and are expected to see active participation from candidates backed by student political groups like the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), and other independent candidates.

The scrutiny process, which took place shortly after the nomination deadline on September 17, 2024, was an important step to verify the eligibility of each candidate. Students had the opportunity to withdraw their nominations by September 18, and the final list of candidates was published the same day.

This provisional list is available for public viewing on the official Delhi University website and includes names of candidates contesting for key positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary.

DUSU Election 2024 date and time

DUSU election 2024 will be held on September 27, with voting times set for 8:30 am to 1 pm for day scholars and 3 pm to 7:30 pm for evening students. The results will be announced on September 28 after the votes are counted.

"As a result of preliminary scrutiny, the Nomination Papers of the under-mentioned candidates have been provisionally found to be in order for the post of President", the official notice read.

DUSU Election 2024: Nomination withdrawal

The candidate who has submitted the nomination is allowed to withdraw his/her candidature by writing an application addressed to the Chief Election Officer.

The withdrawal application must be signed by the candidate in the presence of the undersigned. Candidate while submitting application for withdrawal in person will also be required to show his/her identity card. Withdrawal will not be accepted by post or through any messenger. The withdrawal will be accepted till September 20, 2024.

DUSU elections are significant in shaping the student governance at Delhi University, as elected representatives often play influential roles in addressing student issues and voicing concerns related to academics, infrastructure, and policy changes within the university. Many former DUSU office-bearers have also gone on to hold prominent political positions at the state and national levels, highlighting the importance of these elections in fostering future leaders.
