École Polytechnique forges new partnerships with IIT Delhi, IIT Madras; discussion underway with IISc

Download NowNEW DELHI: École Polytechnique has announced new partnerships with IIT Delhi and IIT Madras. Discussions are also underway with IISc Bangalore for which topics of common interest on research and educational cooperation have been identified, an official statement read. The agreements were signed during the visit of Laura Chaubard, president and director general of École Polytechnique, to India.

During the 5-day visit, the director general has announced plans to forge new partnerships with Indian institutions, particularly with Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). During the official visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to France in July 2023 on the occasion of the French National Day, Institut Polytechnique de Paris strengthened its cooperation with India by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with two leading institutions, IIT Delhi and IIT Madras.
“Based on these agreements, École Polytechnique reinforced its relationship with IIT Delhi and explored collaborations with IIT Bombay and signed specific agreements with the two institutions on the occasion of this visit,” it said.

Founded in 1794, École Polytechnique aims to provide the country with engineers trained to the highest level. The university is ranked 46th in the world in the QS 2025 ranking, 6th Young University and 71st according to the Times Higher Education world university ranking 2025. It is also part of Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which brings together six of the most prestigious French engineering colleges.
“École Polytechnique is strongly rooted in innovation-related ecosystems (770 startups have been created since 2010). École Polytechnique hosts about 80 Indian students on its campus. Its strategy of forging closer links with the best Indian universities is designed to open its doors even wider to the best Indian students,” it said. In 2022, École Polytechnique had 779 co-publications with Indian researchers, i.e. 5% of Polytechnique's core co-publications.
