Education Ministry invites applications for IIT Delhi and IIT Indore director posts

The ministry of education, department of higher education, government of India has invited applications for the post of director for IIT Delhi and IIT Indore. Candidates can submit their application in the prescribed format along with the enclosures by October 31.

The post carries a fixed pay of Rs 2.25 lakh per month, with allowances as per rules. Candidates will have to apply by submitting their detailed resume in the prescribed format, along with administrative achievements.

Also, at least a two-page justification in support of candidacy, a vision statement for the institution, and contact details of at least two well-acquainted individuals have to be shared along with the application.

Both IITs are autonomous institutions fully funded by the education ministry. The appointment for the IIT Mandi director’s post is also open.

IIT director appointment eligibility requirements

According to the education ministry notice, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience and leadership qualities to head an Institute of National Importance (INI). The applicant should preferably be less than 60 years of age on the last date of receipt of the applications.

The applicant should have a PhD degree with a first-class or equivalent in the preceding degree, preferably in engineering. In exceptional cases, candidates with science, mathematics, or management degrees may be considered.

Candidates must have an academic record throughout and a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience as a professor in a reputed engineering or technology institute or university, and should have guided PhD students.

Currently, Rangan Banerjee is serving as the director of IIT Delhi, and Suhas S Joshi as the IIT Indore director.
