NEW DELHI: The ministry of education has introduced the 'Prerana: An Experiential Learning Programme’ for students of Classes 9 to 12. It is a weekly residential programme for 20 selected students and will run from a vernacular school situated in Mehsana, Gujarat.
Students can register for this programme by visiting its official website at prerana.education.gov.in. The registered applicants can either go through a selection procedure prescribed on the portal or participate in the selection process carried out at the school or block level, on designated ‘Prerana Utsav’ day.
“The Prerana programme aims to provide all participants with a meaningful, distinctive, and exciting experience, ultimately empowering them with leadership abilities,” the ministry said. Every week, a group of 20 students, 10 boys and 10 girls, from various regions of the country will be selected to attend the programme.

Prerana school's syllabus is based on nine value-based topics developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhi Nagar. These topics are Swabhiman and Vinay, Shaurya and Sahas, Parishram and Samarpan, Karuna and Sewa, Vividhta and Ekta, Satyanishtha and Shuchita, Navachar and Jigyasa, Shraddha aur Vishwas, and Swatantrata and Kartavya.
According to the official notice, “The day-wise programme plan will involve yoga, mindfulness, and meditation workshops, followed by experiential learning, thematic seminars, and hands-on learning activities. Evening activities will include trips to ancient and heritage locations, inspirational film screenings, mission life creative activities, talent displays etc. offering a comprehensive learning approach.”
Students will also participate in different activities, embracing indigenous knowledge systems, the latest State-of-the-art technologies, and learning from inspirational people.
