Education ministry to send 94 students on EBSB auroville tour from January 29

The Education ministry will send 94 students from IIIT, IIT and other HEIs on a week-long educational-cultural journey to Auroville.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education is organising a week-long educational-cum-cultural tour to Auroville under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) from tomorrow, January 29. This program, coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo, aims to immerse young minds in the philosopher's vision of integral education and its practical application at Auroville.

Under this initiative, 94 students from eight Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will be attending the EBSB-Auroville exposure tour from January 29 to February 2, 2024. Across five days, the tour is designed to offer participatory and immersive learning experiences.

Participating Institutions

The Auroville foundation, an autonomous body under the ministry of education, will collaborate with eight participating HEIs to make the experience enriching and immersive. These eight HEIs and the number of participating students from each institute are mentioned in the table below.

The tour itinerary promises a rich tapestry of immersive experiences, designed to expose students to various facets of Auroville's unique ecosystem.

Participants will visit Auroville units known for their sustainable practices and world-class products, delve into the environmental stewardship efforts of the sadhana forest, botanical gardens, and discover the township's vibrant art and culture scene. Additionally, they will gain insights into Auroville's architecture, planning, and waste management systems, offering an understanding of its functioning.

Students will visit Matrimandir, the centre of Auroville's spiritual life, and pay respects at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. Engaging in Dehashakti, a physical education program envisioned by the mother, promises to further enrich their understanding of Auroville's holistic approach to well-being.

This EBSB-Auroville tour aspires to equip students with a deeper understanding of integral education, spirituality, and values. By experiencing Auroville's unique approach to community living and learning, the participants will gain insights that can contribute to nation-building efforts.
