NEW DELHI: On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Raju Kendre, founder of Eklavya India Foundation has announced that the Eklavya Global Scholar's Program (GSP) cohort 3 will be launched tomorrow, April 14. The application deadline for the Eklavya Global Scholar's Program is May 15.

The Eklavya Global Scholars Program (GSP) is a mentorship initiative supporting first-generation university students from historically underrepresented communities in pursuing higher education at global universities.

Eklavya Global Scholar's Program: Success of past cohorts

Over the past two cohorts of the Master's and PhD programs, Eklavya foundation have worked with over 150 scholars throughout their application processes. These cohorts have been successful, with more than 75 scholars securing admissions to universities such as the University of Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Edinburgh, SOAS (UK); Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown (USA); the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, University of Göttingen (Germany); the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (Switzerland); and the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), among others.

Eklavya Global Scholars Program Cohort 3: Features

Eklavya Global Scholars program cohort 3 will include the following

  • Residential bootcamps: The mentorship programme will start off with our three day long residential bootcamp in Nagpur, Maharashtra in the late June 2024. These intensive three-day residential boot camps will provide participants with counseling and detailed information on university options, scholarships, and essential resources. This guidance will be facilitated by a dedicated resource person.
  • Mentorship: Each selected participant will be matched with a mentor who has received extensive sensitization training and is currently enrolled as a student or scholar at institutions abroad. The objective is to pair learners with mentors from similar socio-economic backgrounds to prioritize care and cultural sensitivity.
  • Comprehensive support: Participants will receive holistic support, including guidance on academic streams, preparation for research proposals, academic writing samples, cvs, statements of purpose, letters of recommendation, English proficiency tests (IELTS/TOEFL), and scholarship programme interviews.
  • Community and peer assistance: Regular check-ins will be conducted to provide peer support, mental health assistance, and capacity building. The aim is to empower participants to eventually become mentors and leaders themselves.

Eklavya GSP Cohort 3: Selection process

GSP selection process includes evaluation of applications and interview. Priority will be given to first-generation university students from rural, tribal, and non-English medium backgrounds. The program offers a total of 50 seats for this year's cohort, and applications will be accepted on rolling basis. Furthermore, efforts will be made to ensure a balanced distribution of seats between students in the Social Sciences and STEM fields.
