The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has opened the registration portal for the December 2025 Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). Graduates who have completed an MBBS degree from a foreign medical institution will have to qualify the screening test to practice medicine in India.

Along with the information brochure, the NBEMS has also announced the FMGE exam date for the December 2025 session. According to the final schedule, the FMGE exam will be conducted on January 17.

Foreign medical graduates seeking provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council must qualify the screening test. The NBE FMGE application form link is now available on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

The screening test is conducted biannually, in June and December. Notably, only 6,707 out of 36,034 candidates who appeared in the exam qualified in the June 2025 session.

FMGE eligibility criteria

Candidates are required to pay an examination fee of Rs 5,250, plus Rs 945 GST@18%, taking the total to Rs 6,195.

As per the eligibility criteria, candidates should have qualified the final MBBS exam or equivalent degree on or before October 31, 2025. Failing to produce proof of passing the qualifying exam by the prescribed cut-off deadline will lead to cancellation of candidature.

The foreign medical degrees should be attested either by the Embassy of India or should be Apostilled by the appropriate authority of the foreign country concerned.

“Unattested certificates / Certificates attested after the last date prescribed for submission of documents (i.e. 02.01.2026) shall not be considered for the purpose of eligibility for FMGE December 2025,” the NBEMS said.
