The declaration of the FMGE June 2026 results has sparked disappointment among many Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs). Candidates have raised concerns over the sharp drop in the pass percentage which has dropped to around 12. It is much lower than the results seen over the past three to four years. Following the results, many candidates took to social media platforms including X to express their concerns.

They believe that the FMGE June paper was much tougher than previous years as several questions were highly conceptual and required more time to answer. Some candidates even claimed that the difficulty level was similar to postgraduate entrance exams such as NEET PG and INI-CET.

They argued that the FMGE is only a screening test to check whether a foreign medical graduate is eligible to practise in India, and therefore it should not be as difficult as a competitive entrance examination.

Poor facilities, grace marks

Another issue raised was the introduction of video-based questions. Candidates claim they were not informed in advance about this change in the exam pattern. Therefore, they have demanded grace marks for these questions.

What started immediately after conclusion of exam, was candidates claiming that despite paying an examination fee of Rs 7,000, they faced uncomfortable testing conditions at some centres. Many questioned why such a high examination fee could not ensure better facilities for candidates.

Aspirants demand answer key

Candidates have also raised concerns about the lack of transparency in the FMGE. The demand for release of answer key has widened this time.

One of the X user wrote, "FMGE charges ₹6,200 but won’t release the answer key. No transparency. Around 36,500 appeared, nearly 32,000 failed, only 12% passed. A CBT with 84% failing to even score 50%? To many students, this feels like open corruption. Please expose this."

Since NBEMS does not release answer key, candidates are not allowed to apply for rechecking or re-evaluation of answer sheets. Candidates beleive that these steps would make the examination process more transparent and them evaluate their performance.

The concerns do not end with the examination. Many FMGs said they have to wait for several months after clearing the FMGE before they are allotted internships. Recently, FMGs protested against the same.
