NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited applications for the eligibility certificate required for appearing in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2024. Candidates can apply for the certificate through NMC’s website, nmc.org.in. The last date to submit the applications is April 30, 2024.

“The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) Screening Test is tentatively scheduled in June 2024 by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. As per the requirements, the candidates who are required to have the eligibility certificate are not permitted to apply for the Screening Test without the Eligibility Certificate issued by the National Medical Commission,” NMC said in an official notice.

The commission informed that incomplete application forms will not be processed and summarily rejected.

NMC’s measures for avoiding mistakes

A day before opening the portal for applying for FMGE EC, NMC issued an advisory for applicants suggesting measures to avoid mistakes while applying for the certificate as it observed various errors being done by the candidates on previous occasions. As per the commission:

  • The applications should preferably be filled by the candidate himself and should ideally avoid proxy for making applications for EC.
  • Candidates are also advised to keep their documents handy before filling application for EC; it would be ideal if the entries to be made are verified vis-a-vis entries in the original documents.
  • The candidates should provide their active mobile numbers so that alerts or deficiencies can reach them directly for rectification to obviate any delay in rectification. It may also be ensured that once the deficiency is conveyed only the deficiency should be rectified by the respective candidate as expeditiously as possible to avoid last minute rush.
  • Candidates shall scrupulously check entries and ensure conformity with the details in the original documents to ensure quick processing or approval of applications if otherwise eligible.

“The above-mentioned steps are only suggestive and not exhaustive. Candidates are requested to exercise due diligence before submitting applications for Eligibility Certificates and ensure the mobile numbers indicated remain active,” NMC further stated.
