New Delhi, May 11: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2020) will be held by IIT Delhi while Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM 2020) will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. GATE is the entrance test for admissions to postgraduate courses in engineering while JAM is the entrance test for admissions to post graduate programmes in science at the IITs, NITs and other universities.

GATE and JAM are jointly conducted by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The operations related to the exams are managed by two organizing institutes from the eight zonal institutes namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Rookee and IISc Bangalore.

GATE is held for 24 papers while JAM is conducted in 7 papers in 8 sessions each on multiple days. Application forms for the exams will be available tentatively from September 2019 while the entrance exams will be held in February 2020. Both the entrance exams are computer based.

It is to be noted that GATE 2021 will be held by IIT Bombay and JAM 2021 by IISc Bangalore.
