New Delhi: IIT Delhi has commenced GATE 2020 from today i.e., February 1. The morning shift of the first day of the exam is being conducted for 5 papers having paper codes as IN, ME1, MT, PE, PH. The next shift will commence at 2:30 PM for CY, ME2, PI paper codes. The examination for the first day has started at 9:30 AM and will conclude at 12:30 PM. GATE 2020 is being conducted at examination centres spread across 193 Indian cities and 6 cities outside India on February 1, 2, 8, and 9. Mechanical Engineering is being conducted in two sessions today.

What’s new in GATE 2020?

  • There is an addition of a new paper in GATE 2020, Biomedical Engineering.

  • There has been a decrease in the total number of examination cities.

  • For the 2020 session, Civil Engineering & Mechanical Engineering is being held in two sessions.

About GATE

Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a computer-based test which is being conducted for admission into M.E./M.Tech/PhD at the IITs, NITS, IIITs and CFTIs as well as the screening test for PSU recruitment. As per the press release, IIT Delhi mentioned that this year, 8.6 lakh students have applied for GATE 2020.
