NEW DELHI: Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will hold the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 in February. The registration for GATE exam 2022 will begin on August 30 on the official website - gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

What is GATE exam?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national aptitude test that checks knowledge and understanding of students in undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for taking admission in masters programmes and jobs in various public sector companies like Indian Oil, GAIL (Gas Authority of India Limited). The scores of GATE exam are valid upto three years from the year of appearing for the examination.

Gate exam is jointly conducted by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian institutes of Technology - Kharagpur, Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Madras, and Roorkee.

This year, IIT Kharagpur is organising the test and GATE 2022 exam dates are February 5,6, 12, and 13.

GATE 2022 registration

Applicants can register for GATE 2022 on the official website - gate.iitkgp.ac.in. After that, they will have to fill in the GATE 2022 application form. The last date to apply is August 30 whereas the last date for correcting the form in case of any defects is November 1.

Here is the list of documents required to register for GATE 2022.

• Personal information (name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parents’ name, parents’ mobile number and others).

• Communication address.

• Educational certificates.

• College name and address with PIN code .

• Scanned images of photographs and signatures.

• Valid photo ID proof.

• Category certificate.

• Net banking, debit card, credit card or internet banking details for online payment.

GATE 2022 syllabus

IIT Kharagpur will hold GATE exam for 29 papers for a duration of 3 hours each. While every paper is for a total of 100 marks, General Aptitude (GA) of 15 marks is common for all subjects and the rest 85 marks are covered by the syllabus for respective subjects.

GATE 2022 eligibility criteria

While there is no age limit to appear for GATE 2022, the candidates must have a graduate degree in engineering or technology or a master’s degree in any subject. Students in their pre-final or final year of their degree can also apply.
