GATE 2023: IIT Kanpur cancels exam centres in these cities abroad, gives 2 options for candidates

Candidates who opted cancelled cities have to convey their decision by sending email to gate@iitk.ac.in by December 5 along with their enrolment id, name.

Check NowNEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has announced the cancellation of seven international exam centres for the upcoming Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2023). The decision to withdraw the GATE 2023 exam centres in the seven cities was taken due to operational issues.

“Centres at Dhaka (Bangladesh), Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Male (Maldives), Port Louis (Mauritius), Singapore (Singapore) and Thimphu (Bhutan) are withdrawn due to operational issues. GATE 2023 Examination will NOT be conducted in these cities,” as per the GATE 2023 official website.
“In Dubai (UAE) the examination on February 5 (for papers BM, CY, EC, EE, ES, XH) and February 12, 2023 (for papers CE1, CE2, MN and ST) will not be conducted,” it informed candidates.

IIT Kanpur has given two options for candidates who have registered in these cities to appear for the GATE 2023 exam. Candidates will be able to either withdraw GATE 2023 candidature and get the full refund for application fees or opt for one of the cities available in India.
The original registration fees will be refunded to the applicants choosing to appear for the exam in India. However, to write the GATE 2023 examination in India, they will have to pay the fees for per paper.
Indian nationals belonging to SC, ST, PwD categories and female candidates will have to pay Rs 850 and others, including foreign nationals, will have to pay Rs 1,700.
Candidates must login to their account on the official website, gate.iitk.ac.in, to exercise Option B. They are also required to convey their decision by sending email to gate@iitk.ac.in by December 5, 2022, along with their enrolment id and name.
