NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has begun the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) registration process for admission into undergraduate (UG) engineering, architecture, and other courses. The GATE exam 2025 will be held for 30 papers and candidates will also be given a choice to opt for two papers, as per the GATE FAQ 2025 issued by the institute.

The IIT Roorkee has published the GATE 2025 frequently asked questions (FAQs) explaining the application, exam pattern, and admission process. The GATE registration last date 2025 without late fee is September 26. Those who fail to register before the deadline will be allowed to submit GATE application form by paying a late fee before October 7.

The institute may announce additional two-paper combinations at a later date “subject to the availability of infrastructure and scheduling feasibility”, which will be notified on the GATE 2025 website.

The institute instructed candidates to fill one application form, even if they opt for a two-paper combination. Each GATE paper will carry 100 marks. General aptitude which is common for all papers and will carry 15 marks and the remaining subject-specific questions will be asked for 85 marks.

As per the GATE exam date 2025, IIT Roorkee will conduct the national-level entrance exam from February 1, 2, 15 and 16 at various exam centres. Answering candidates’ questions on whether they will be allowed to change exam city, exam paper, and category, the institute said they will be permitted to make changes in the form after the registration deadline and during the correction period. However, they will not be given an option to choose sessions.

When should I apply for GATE 2025?

GATE 2025 registration process began on August 28 and will be closed on September 26. The GATE application form is available on the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

Which cities are in the GATE 2025?

GATE exam will be held at exam centres located at various cities across India. It has been divided into 8 zones, each under an IIT. This year, there will be no international exam center and foreign candidates who wish to appear in the exam will have to opt for an exam city in India.
