IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7,8, 14, and 15. The exam will be administered in two sessions: from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
GATE 2026 late registration fee for female, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and PwD category candidates is Rs 1,500, and other candidates have to pay Rs 2,500.
IIT Guwahati introduced a new energy science sectional paper under the engineering sciences subject, which offers flexibility of choice to the aspirants. The new sectional paper comprises materials science, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, polymer science and engineering, food technology, atmospheric and oceanic sciences, and energy science.

The institute also launched the GATE 2026 two-paper combination list , allowing applicants to choose the second paper as per preference. Candidates should choose their primary and second test papers from the introduced combinations only.
