Goa colleges likely to reopen for offline classes by mid-March: Report

NEW DELHI: As Goa witnesses decline in COVID-19 and Omicron cases, the colleges in the state are likely to reopen from mid-March, according to a Times of India report. The colleges started conducting offline examinations for final-year students from today, the report said.

The exams were scheduled to be held in January but postponed due to the third wave of COVID-19, the report said. As soon as final exams for students will get over, the first semester will end and classes for the second semester will begin from March 2, the report said.

The Goa University is likely to allow offline classes by the middle of March, as per the report. “Initially, colleges will be planning to conduct classes as a combination of online and offline sessions,” a college principal was quoted as saying.

The principal added that colleges are expecting to get instructions from Goa University on holding offline classes, especially for final year students, as per the report.

Meanwhile, with Delhi University slated to resume offline teaching from tomorrow, February 17, a section of outstation students especially those in the final year have demanded that classes be held in hybrid format.

Some DU colleges will be holding classes for the first-year students in hybrid format, while second and third year students will have to attend classes in person.
