NEW DELHI : The Government of India has recently awarded KL University with the prestigious ‘One District One Green Champion’ Swachhta Award 2021. This award is given to the deemed to be university under Swachhta Action Plan 2020-21 regulated by the Ministry of Education and popularly known as the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) scheme.
For this award, KL University was judged on seven important parameters, which are- hygiene, cleanliness, usage of green & renewable energy, waste management, the green campus drive, precautions taken after Covid-19 settled and measures taken to maintain social distancing norms.
“We take pride in contributing our bit in making India clean and Atmanirbhar. The award is a testimony to our commitment towards rending social responsibility with utmost sincerity. Providing a healthy and impactful environment conducive to enhance the overall development of the students is a key pillar of KL university’s methodologies.” said Koneru Satyanarayana, president, KL University after receiving the award.
Earlier, in 2018, the university had received 1st rank under the private universities category at Andhra Pradesh Green Awards bestowed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It was also a recipient of the “Most Clean Campus in South Central Region” in 2017 awarded to them by the AICTE.
On the academic front, KL University is well known for its undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across the field of studies. It received the NAAC A++ and Category-I Institution by UGC, MHRD (now Ministry of Education), Government of India in 2019. In the ‘All India ranking’ conducted by DATAQUEST-2021, the university was adjudged 6th rank.
