Government to ensure one PG medical college in each district: PM Narendra Modi
PM Modi says the government's focus is on promoting preventive healthcare, ayurveda and yoga.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government is making efforts to ensure one medical college or an institution for post-graduate medical education in each district of the country. He was addressing a virtual inauguration of CIPET in Rajasthan on Thursday.
He also said that the government's focus is on promoting preventive healthcare, ayurveda and yoga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur and laid the foundation stones of four new medical colleges in Rajasthan virtually. The four medical colleges will be set up in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh and Dausa districts of Rajasthan.
The government has sanctioned the new medical colleges under the centrally sponsored scheme for "establishment of new medical colleges attached with district or referral hospitals", according to an official statement, a PTI report said.
According to the statement, underserved, backward and aspirational districts have been given preference to set up the medical colleges, as per the PTI report. The institute has been designed to be self-sustainable and will cater to the needs of petrochemical and allied industries while equipping the youth to become skilled technical professionals, the statement said, as per the PTI.
