PM Modi inaugurates CIPET, lays foundation stones for 4 medical colleges in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur and laid the foundation stones of four new medical colleges in Rajasthan, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on social media.

The four medical colleges will be set up in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh and Dausa districts of Rajasthan.

“In pursuance with his govt’s efforts to ensure top-quality education, PM Shri narendramodi ji today inaugurated CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur and laid the foundation stone for 4 new medical colleges at Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh and Dausa,” Dharmendra Pradhan said in a social media post.

Pradhan added: “These educational institutions are a step towards ensuring a bright future for Rajasthan, catering to the aspirations of youngsters and strengthening the Aatmanirbhar Bharat abhiyan.”

“Rightly highlighted by PM Shri narendramodi ji, NEP opens a doorway of opportunities for the youth of rural and urban areas alike. Thank Hon. PM for taking important initiatives to create future health leaders and help bridge the gap in health delivery services,” Pradhan further said.

According to the official statement, the petrochemical industry is the fastest growing industry in India and the new institute will provide skilled manpower in the industry.

These new medical colleges have been sanctioned under the centrally sponsored scheme for "establishment of new medical colleges attached with district or referral hospitals", according to an official statement, a PTI report said.

According to the statement, underserved, backward and aspirational districts have been given preference to set up the medical colleges, as per the PTI report.

The institute has been designed to be self-sustainable and will cater to the needs of petrochemical and allied industries while equipping the youth to become skilled technical professionals, the statement said, as per the PTI.

The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) was previously known as the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology. It was established in 1968 at Chennai.
