GPAT 2024 exam on June 8; NBE likely to conduct MPharm entrance exam instead of NTA

NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is likely to conduct the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT 2024) this year. The board announced the GPAT exam date 2024 today along with the NBE revised exam calendar for the academic year 2024-25. As per the schedule, GPAT will be held on June 8.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was holding the GPAT exam till 2018. Later, the National Testing Agency (NTA) was given the responsibility to conduct the national-level exam from 2019 for admission into the MPharma programme. However, this year the NBEMS has announced the exam dates.
GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) approved universities, affiliated university departments, colleges. Around 782 participating institutions fill 39,670 MPharm seats through GPAT every year.
GPAT eligibility criteria
As per the eligibility criteria, candidates having a 4-year bachelor’s degree in pharmacy will be eligible to apply. Those in the last year of BPharmacy will also be eligible to take the exam. However, candidates having BTech degree in pharmaceutical and fine chemical technology or equivalent degree will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
There is no age limit to apply for this entrance exam, but they should be a citizen of India.
General category male candidates have to pay Rs 2,200 and female applicants will have to pay Rs 1,100 as application fees. General-EWS, SC, ST, PwD, and OBC-(NCL), third gender candidates will also have to deposit Rs 1,100 as registration fees, as per previous year’s notification.

GPAT exam 2024
The GPAT exam is conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode for a duration of three hours. After the declaration of results, the participating universities will announce GPAT cut-offs for admission. Some institutes may also conduct Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) to shortlist candidates.
The pharmacy entrance exam will test candidates’ knowledge in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, and other subjects. The question paper will carry 500 marks.
