Gujarat government to give more weightage for GUJCET for college admission: Report
Gujarat government is planning to give more weightage to Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) over Class 12 for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses.
NEW DELHI: Gujarat government is planning to give more weightage to Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) over Class 12 (science) for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses, as per The Times of India report. This comes after the announcement of the mass promotion of Class 12 students in the state on the basis of their merit-based progression.

As per the TOI report, the education department sources said that it is being planned to give 60% weightage to GUJCET and 40% to Class 12 scores this year. Usually, the merit list for admissions is prepared by giving 40% weightage on GUJCET scores and 60% weightage for Class 12 scores. However, there is no final decision yet.
“At a recent meeting between university vice-chancellors and the state education department, the issue of giving 60% weightage to GUJCET for college admissions was discussed,” TOI quoted Navin Sheth, the vice-chancellor of Gujarat Technological University.
Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has started the GUJCET 2021 registrations from today, June 23. The last date of application is June 30. GUJCET exam dates are yet to be declared. As per the report, GUJCET 2021 exam dates will be released after the announcement of exam dates for exams like NEET and JEE Main upcoming sessions.
GSEB conducts GUJCET as a pen-paper-based examination for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses offered by the participating institutes.
