The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is providing science and engineering programmes with an extended Major in artificial intelligence.
NEW DELHI : The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, is inviting applications for its two popular undergraduate degree programmes in science and engineering with an extended Major in artificial intelligence.
Students who wish to apply must fulfil the general admission, school or program-specific and English language requirements, the university said. For Indian students, the requirements are “pass certificates obtained on completion of Class 12” in any of the state and national boards. The university said that the reference score of previous students admitted to HKUST is at an average “overall average of 85% or above” in exams.
HKUST, in a statement said: “While AI is a hot topic, studying a new program solely on a new emerging knowledge may not be the most effective for students, as such knowledge should be best integrated into [the] existing system so students could make sense of such novel technologies in real-life applications.”
Students enrolled in the programmes can choose their major in physics, computer Science, mathematics, civil engineering or ocean science and technology from either science or engineering before the second year begins, the university said.
The university also awards scholarships for meritorious students. HKUST was ranked No. 1 in Times Higher Education’s Young University Rankings 2020 and No. 27 among global universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021.
