Hyderabad: A court here has convicted a Madrasa teacher to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy in 2022. According to the complaint lodged by a man on 23 March 2022 with Balapur Police Station, his 11-year-old son was regularly attending Madrasa Jamia Noorul Anwar at Shaheen Nagar. Noticing that his son had stopped attending the Madrasa for a week and appeared highly disturbed, the complainant asked him about the reasons. The boy revealed that about a month earlier, his Madrasa teacher, Syed Nadeem (22), forcibly took him to his house, stripped him, and committed unnatural sex.

The accused also threatened to kill the boy if he disclosed the matter to anyone, a police release said late on Thursday. Upon successful completion of the investigation by city police and trial, the court dealing with POCSO cases on Thursday found the accused Syed Nadeem guilty and awarded him 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. The accused was punished under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the IPC.
