ICAI postpones CA Intermediate exams to May 5 due to unavoidable reasons; confirms no change in Foundation, Final dates

Download NowThe Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has revised the schedule for the CA Intermediate May 2026 exams. As per the official notice, the exams, which were earlier set to begin on May 3, will now commence from May 5, 2026. The institute said the change was made due to “unavoidable reasons.”
The rescheduling applies to all centres, including those outside India. The exam timings will remain the same, from 2 pm to 5 pm (IST).
As per the updated timetable, Group I papers will now be held on May 5, 7, and 9, while Group II exams are scheduled for May 11, 13, and 15, 2026.

No changes for CA Foundation and Final exams
The institute has confirmed that the revised schedule only affects the Intermediate course. There are no changes to the CA Foundation, Final, or Post Qualification course (PQC) exam dates announced earlier.
This means students appearing for these exams can continue with their preparation as planned, without worrying about any changes.
CA final exams to be held twice a year from 2026
The ICAI has decided to hold CA Final exams twice a year starting 2026, in May and November. This decision is taken after getting feedback from the stakeholders.

The official notice reads, "The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has decided that CA Final Examinations shall be conducted twice a year in the months of May and November with effect from May 2026 Chartered Accountants Examination and onwards."
