ICAI holds convocation for 20,000 new chartered accountant members; felicitates CA exam rank-holders

The convocation was held in 14 different location across India for new CA members to receive their membership certificates on October 6, 2022.
NEW DELHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held a convocation for around 20,000 newly-enrolled members on October 6, 2022 in 14 locations across India.
The new members received their certificates of membership and the rank holders of the CA final examination were felicitated with rank certificates. More than 2,600 members were presented with certificates of membership and rank certificates in Delhi. The chief guest of the convocation was Piyush Goyal, union minister of commerce and industry, consumer affairs, food and public distribution and textiles.
While addressing the gathering, Goyal congratulated the newly-enrolled chartered accountants and said: “The chartered accountants are ambassadors of this noble profession, holding their heads high as the nation progresses ahead. It is a matter of great pride for all CAs for serving the most noble profession across the country and abroad. Chartered accountants act as ambassadors of any country's economic system, working as an interface between the government, tax-paying companies and individuals."

Debashis Mitra, ICAI president, said: “Started in 1949 with about 1,700 members, today ICAI is a premier accounting body of the country and the second largest accounting body in the world with over 3.6 lakh members. ICAI has five regional councils and 166 branches all across the country with over 7.6 lakh students. In addition, it has also set up 44 chapters outside India and 33 representative offices.”
The ICAI has created a group of accountants for every sphere of the country’s economy, industry, business and governance for over 73 years. It aims to provide training and have difficult examinations to "acquire only the people that have knowledge, intelligence, experience and command on every field covered by chartered accountancy", says the ICAI statement.
