ICAI Council elects Debashis Mitra as the president and Aniket Sunil Talati as the vice-president

NEW DELHI: The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has elected Debashis Mitra as the president of ICAI and Aniket Sunil Talati as the vice-president of ICAI for the year 2022-23, said a statement from ICAI.

Debashis Mitra is a chartered accountant who is serving his third term in the council of ICAI. He is also a cost accountant, company secretary, and holds a master’s degree in commerce and a PhD. He is also a law graduate and an information systems auditor.
Mitra has previously served as the chairman of the committee on education, training and CPD of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and as a member of the audit group of Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA). He is also previously associated with ICAI since he was previously appointed as chairman of the Eastern Indian Regional Council of ICAI and Guwahati branch of EIRC of ICAI.

Aniket Sunil Talati, the vice-president of ICAI is a chartered accountant who has served as the chairman of different boards of ICAI. He is currently a member of the direct tax committee of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). He was the chairman of the Ahmedabad Branch of ICAI during 2014-15. He was also a member of different committees, boards and directorates of ICAI.
Talati completed his bachelor's degree in commerce from Mumbai University and later completed his master of commerce.
