ICAI may postpone CA May-June exams 2024 to avoid clash with general elections

NEW DELHI: Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) may postpone the CA Foundation, Final, and Intermediate exams for the May session if the dates clash with general elections 2024. The registration process without late fee was closed yesterday for CA May exam 2024.

The General Election for the 18th Lok Sabha will be held this year, the notification of which is awaited. In view of the upcoming elections, the institute said: “The Examination Committee may reschedule May 2024 CA Examination, if the dates of General Election coincide with the present examination schedule.”

The committee also “decided that there should be a cooling off period for one attempt after three (3) consecutive attempts for observership duties”.

ICAI has also notified the eligibility criteria for the empanelment, to act as observers. Applicants should not be more than 65 years, should not be a coaching student or have a criminal record are some of the criteria laid down by the committee.

The honorarium of Rs 3,000 per day or per session and Rs 350 as conveyance reimbursement for ‘A’ class cities and Rs 250 for other cities per day to cover cost of local travel will be paid, the ICAI said. Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune are considered the ‘’A’ class cities.

The application window for interested candidates who wish to register to be observers will be closed on March 5 at observers.icaiexam.icai.org.

CA May exams 2024

As per the schedule, aspirants who failed to submit the application for CA exams 2024 before the deadline will be able to register by paying a late fee of Rs 600 or 10 US dollars. All registered candidates will be allowed to make changes in the submitted form from March 3 to 9. CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final exam registration form should be filled at the official website, eservices.icai.org.
