IGNOU launches BA Honors programmes in Urdu and Sanskrit
Interested students can register for bachelor (honors) programmes in Urdu and Sanskrit at official website ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)’s School of Humanities has launched bachelor of arts (honors) in Urdu (Baudh) and Sanskrit (Baksh) starting from the January admission session . The University held virtual ceremonies where it launched the bachelor programmes.
Students interested to enroll in the BA (Hons) programmes can access the admission portal of IGNOU at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and register for the respective programmes.

During the launch of BA (Hons) Urdu programme, distinguished guests such as Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia; Shaikh Aquil Ahmad, Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of Education (MoE) and Akhtarul Wasey, former president, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur were present. They spoke on the need to propagate the Urdu language which has been part of our culture for long.

Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU in his presidential address at the launch of BA (Hons) Urdu talked of the various Urdu words used by everyone in their daily lives and said that this amalgamation of the languages makes our culture unique, according to a statement from the university.
On the other hand, the launch of BA (Hons) Sanskrit witnessed distinguished guests including Murli Manohar Pathak, vice-chancellor of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University; Madhusudan Penna, VC of Kavikulguru Sanskrit University, Ramtek and Hare Krishna Satapathy, VC, Kalinga University. They congratulated IGNOU for starting a UG (Honors) level programme in Sanskrit.

In his presidential address at the launch of Sanskrit Honors programme, Rao touched on Sanskrit’s scientific structure and connection with Indian ethos and culture since vedic times, said IGNOU statement.
