IILM University hosts 3rd national moot court competition; cash prize Rs 10,000 awarded to winners

NEW DELHI: Institute of Integrated Learning in Management University (IILM University) Gurugram, concluded the 3rd National Moot Court Competition ON April 6. The IILM University 3rd national moot court was conducted for a span of 3 days from April 4 to April 6, 2024.

The 3rd national moot court event was organised at the university campus in Gurugram, where young law students and experts from across the nation participated. The event fostered vibrant discussions and courtroom simulations centered on pertinent contemporary legal issues.

The moot court competition, focused on machine learning, constitutional law, and IPR laws, began with an inaugural ceremony on April 4, featuring addresses from vice-chancellor Sujata Shahi, pro-chancellor Ranbir Singh, and pro-vice-chancellor Asha Verma of IILM University Gurugram.

Sujata Shahi, professor, said, "The 3rd National Moot Court Competition is a testament to our commitment to promoting legal excellence and nurturing the next generation of legal experts. Together, we are committed to upholding the principles of justice, integrity, and equality to make our nation the Vishwa guru of the world. I thank all the students and honourable guests for their participation and support in making this event a resounding success."

The event featured engaging discussions, exchange of memorials, and researcher tests, followed by preliminary and quarter rounds held on April 5. Participants hailed from institutions such as NALSAR Hyderabad, National Law University Delhi, NMIMS Kirit P Mehta School of Law Mumbai, and others.

The competition concluded on April 6 with semi-final and final rounds, alongside the announcement of results and an award ceremony. Distinguished guests, including Narinder Singh from the Indian Society of International Law and Shikhar Ranjan from The Asian–African Legal Consultative Organisation, graced the event's closing day. Pavan Duggal, a renowned cyber law expert, underscored the significance of responsible AI development and deployment, advocating for robust legal frameworks to tackle emerging challenges.

IILM 3rd National Moot Court Competition: Award winners

The 3rd national moot court competition witnessed the presentation of awards, featuring cash prizes totaling over INR 100,000, in recognition of outstanding achievements in advocacy, research, and memorial drafting. Among the notable winners, Shaarika Singh from IIM Rohtak secured the best speaker award, while Ashish Kumar Patel from DNLU Jabalpur was honored with the best researcher accolade. NALSAR Hyderabad received the best memorial award, represented by Mudit Vohra, Kushagr Tiwari, and Shreyank Nandiwada.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, accompanied by a trophy, certificate, and medal. Furthermore, Vrish Vardhan Singh, Shivangini Choppalli, and Azhan Saleem from National Law University, Delhi emerged victorious, receiving a cash prize of INR 51,000. Meanwhile, students from NALSAR Hyderabad secured the runner-up position, earning a cash prize of INR 25,000.
